Frequently Asked Questions About Holistic Sleep Coaching

General Questions:

  • A sleep coach is a trained professional who helps people improve their sleep through personalized guidance, education, and support. Unlike medical doctors or therapists who diagnose and treat sleep disorders, a sleep coach takes a holistic approach—helping you understand your unique sleep patterns, identify habits that may be disrupting your rest, and develop practical strategies to improve sleep quality.

My role as a sleep coach is to provide compassionate, science-backed support to help you reclaim your natural ability to sleep. Whether you're struggling with insomnia, racing thoughts at bedtime, or feeling stuck in a cycle of poor sleep, I work with you to create sustainable changes so you can sleep more easily and feel more rested.

  • Sleep coaching is for anyone who struggles with sleep and wants a supportive, non-medical approach to improving their rest. If you have trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, or waking up feeling refreshed—especially if you've tried different strategies without success—sleep coaching may be a great fit.

Unlike medical treatments that focus on sleep disorders, coaching helps you explore lifestyle habits, mindset, and behaviors that impact your sleep. It’s ideal if you’re looking for personalized guidance, accountability, and a compassionate approach to rebuilding healthy sleep patterns.

If you're unsure, I offer a free discovery call where we can chat about your sleep challenges and see if coaching is the right fit for you!

  • I primarily work with people experiencing insomnia, whether it’s acute (short-term) or chronic (long-term). If you struggle with falling asleep, staying asleep, or waking up feeling unrefreshed, sleep coaching can help you develop healthier sleep habits and a more positive relationship with rest.

I also support individuals who want to improve their sleep quality—whether that means feeling more rested, adjusting their bedtime routine, or creating a sleep-friendly lifestyle.

However, I do not diagnose or treat medical sleep disorders such as sleep apnea or narcolepsy. If you have a diagnosed sleep disorder, I’m happy to help guide you toward a qualified healthcare provider who can offer the appropriate care.

  • While my personal experience is with acute and chronic insomnia, I also work with individuals who simply want to optimize their sleep. Whether you’re struggling with restless nights or just looking to improve your sleep quality, my coaching focuses on building sustainable habits and a healthier mindset around rest.

  • Sleep coaching is a non-medical, holistic approach to improving sleep. Unlike doctors or therapists, I do not diagnose or treat medical sleep disorders, prescribe medication, or provide therapy for mental health conditions. Instead, I focus on guiding and supporting you in developing healthier sleep habits, shifting unhelpful thoughts around sleep, and creating a personalized plan to improve your rest.

If you’re struggling with insomnia, sleep anxiety, or just want to optimize your sleep, coaching can be a great way to build confidence in your ability to rest—without relying on external tools or medications. However, if you have a diagnosed sleep disorder or underlying medical condition affecting your sleep, I may recommend working alongside a healthcare professional to ensure you receive the right care.

Working Together:

  • Each sleep coaching session is a collaborative and personalized conversation tailored to your unique sleep challenges and goals. Sessions typically last 40-50 minutes and take place weekly or biweekly, depending on your preference.

While each week we’ll focus on a different area of sleep health, the sessions remain flexible and responsive to what’s most pertinent for you in the moment. We’ll begin by checking in on your sleep since our last session, discussing any progress, challenges, or insights you’ve had. From there, we’ll explore practical strategies to support better rest—whether that’s adjusting routines, working through sleep-related stress, or shifting unhelpful thought patterns.

Every session is designed to provide support, guidance, and actionable steps that align with your lifestyle. Between sessions, you’ll have access to ongoing support through email or the coaching platform.

  • My sleep coaching program is designed as a 6-session journey, as this allows us to cover key components of healthy sleep while also giving you time to implement changes and see progress. Each session builds on the last, helping you develop lasting habits, shift unhelpful thought patterns, and create a sustainable sleep routine.

That said, sleep coaching is highly individualized—some people may find they need fewer sessions to reach their goals, while others may benefit from additional support beyond the initial six. We’ll work together to determine what feels right for you and adjust as needed.

  • Sessions typically range between 40-50 minutes, depending on the flow of the conversation and what’s coming up for you in that moment. Rather than being a rigid time block, each session is guided by your needs—some conversations may naturally take a little longer, while others may wrap up sooner. The focus is always on providing meaningful support and actionable steps tailored to you.

  • Sessions are typically held virtually, either through the Practice Better platform or Zoom, depending on your preference. Both options allow for a seamless and secure coaching experience from the comfort of your own space.

For individuals who live locally, I’m happy to arrange in-person sessions if preferred. Let me know what works best for you!

  • Life happens, and I completely understand that things don’t always go as planned! If you need to reschedule, that’s totally okay—just let me know as soon as possible, and we’ll find a new time that works for you.

I do have a cancellation policy, but I know that unexpected things come up, and I strive to be as flexible as possible while respecting both of our time.

Pricing & Payment

  • The sleep coaching package consists of 6 sessions, designed to support you through key components of healthy sleep. However, I understand that finances can be tight, so I offer a pay-as-you-go model, where each session is $75.

If you choose to pay for the full 6-session package upfront, you’ll receive a discounted rate of $420 for all six sessions. This allows flexibility while also providing a cost-effective option for those committed to the full program.

  • I don’t offer traditional payment plans, but I do provide a pay-as-you-go model to make coaching more accessible. This allows you to pay for each session individually based on your budget and needs. Payment for each session is required in advance to secure your appointment.

  • Unfortunately, health coaching services are not currently covered by insurance. However, international standards for coaching are being developed through the National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching (NBHWC), with the goal of making coaching a reimbursable service in the future.

  • I accept all major credit cards through Stripe, a secure and trusted payment processor. Stripe uses encryption and fraud protection measures to keep your payment information safe, ensuring a secure and seamless transaction.

The Process & Tools

  • No special tools are required for sleep coaching. Throughout our time together, we’ll focus on manually tracking sleep markers, which helps build confidence and strengthen your relationship with sleep. While sleep wearables can be helpful, they often vary in accuracy and don’t always provide the full picture. For some, tracking devices can even increase anxiety around sleep. My approach prioritizes how you feel rather than relying on numbers, fostering a more intuitive and trusting connection with your sleep patterns.

  • Practice Better is a secure, HIPAA-compliant health coaching platform where we can communicate, share resources, and conduct virtual sessions. It helps keep everything organized in one place, including forms, session notes, and messaging. While I highly recommend using it for a seamless experience, it’s not required—if you prefer, we can also meet via Zoom and communicate through email. My goal is to make the process as comfortable and accessible for you as possible.

  • Yes! I understand that questions or concerns may come up between sessions, and I want you to feel supported. You are welcome to reach out to me via the Practice Better platform or email. While I may not always be able to respond immediately, I will do my best to reply within a reasonable timeframe. If a question requires a more in-depth discussion, we can address it in our next session.

Results & Expectations

  • Sleep coaching is not a medical treatment or a cure for insomnia, but it can be a powerful tool in helping you improve your sleep. Together, we’ll work on identifying habits, thoughts, and behaviors that may be interfering with your ability to rest. My goal is to help you cultivate a healthier relationship with sleep, reduce anxiety around it, and develop sustainable practices that support better rest over time. If a medical condition is suspected, I may recommend consulting a healthcare provider for further evaluation.

  • The timeline for seeing improvements varies from person to person. Some clients notice positive changes within the first few sessions, while for others, progress unfolds more gradually. Factors such as how long you've struggled with sleep, your willingness to implement new strategies, and your unique lifestyle all play a role. Sleep is a deeply personal and dynamic process, and my approach is focused on creating sustainable, long-term improvements rather than quick fixes.

  • I completely understand how frustrating and exhausting it can feel when you've tried countless solutions with little to no success. Many of my clients come to me feeling the same way. My approach to sleep coaching is different because it’s not about rigid rules or a one-size-fits-all solution—it’s about exploring your unique relationship with sleep, uncovering what’s been keeping you stuck, and making gentle, sustainable shifts. No matter how long you've struggled, change is possible, and I’m here to help guide you toward restful nights in a way that feels supportive and achievable.
